Why attend an FCEF event? Sponsor, donate or volunteer? Because you're making a difference in the daily lives of our FCCPS students and staff. Beth Jenkins, MEH teacher, writes:
"Hello Ms. Hiscott, I just wanted to send off a quick note of thanks. Jessica Rafter and I were the grateful recipients of a grant this year. We used the funds to purchase additional materials for the 7th grade team. These items are designed to increase movement and motor engagement throughout the school day, and they are really working well. Today I was co-teaching a math lesson on finding the volume of a cylinder - meaty work for a Friday morning. I have two students very softly bouncing on the ball chairs. Their hands are in the air every time Ms. Blanchard asks a question. Several others are using the chair bands to toggle their feet and move the large muscles in their legs. I have one student who really just can't sit for another 90 minutes at the end of the day, so he works at a standing desk during his last class. In science, when we are listening to information on photosynthesis or cellular respiration, several students are usually working the thinking putty in their hands while they listen. It is only thanks to the generosity of the foundation that we can offer these advanced tools to all our students so that they can attend and learn more efficiently. Thank you and the foundation for making our grant possible. Regards, Beth Jenkins" Comments are closed.
