"Our grant from the foundation was used to study the effects on stress and attention of teaching mindfulness skills to my students. The results were so positive that I continue to teach these skills to all of my students even though the study was completed last year. I am also currently writing a curriculum to further strengthen the program by including metacognitive strategies to help students study more effectively. This was definitely a worthwhile project that will benefit many students, both here in Falls Church and elsewhere, now and in the future." - Dr. Nisha Sensharma, Social Studies / Psychology Teacer, GMHS
The thanks are rolling in this week ... as you contemplate sponsoring, donating and/or attending FCEF events, keep in mind the proceeds go to support our students and staff. One recipient of a teacher training grant for students with dyslexia and other reading challenges writes "Dear FCEF, Many thanks for the very generous monetary contribution to my Orton-Gillingham training this August with Arlington Public Schools! It will greatly help our students at Mount Daniel that struggle in reading. I can see the impact of using a multi-sensory approach from some basic online training I have had with OG. I appreciate your help! Sincerely, Brenna Mary."
