The Falls Church Education Foundation is excited to join a wide range of non-profits across the country in encouraging people to follow their Thanksgiving Thursday celebrations and Black Friday shopping with #GIVING TUESDAY (December 1st), a day dedicated to celebrating generosity and giving back.
Your gift to the Falls Church Education Foundation can make a big difference here in our Falls Church community by supporting students and staff across the FCCPS system:
$30 – provides a month of internet access for a GMHS student whose family is unable to afford internet, thus enabling these students to complete online assignments and take full advantage of the school’s Personalized Learning program.
$50 – provides vital grocery gift cards for FCCPS families in need of special assistance.  School administrators and staff work in conjunction with social workers to identify and help these families.
$100 – funds Teacher Grant programs which help bring supplemental resources into classrooms to enhance learning opportunities for students.
$220 – funds a week of summer camp for ESOL students, a valuable tool in keeping English language skills active over school break.

"I wanted to thank you and the FCEF for the many opportunities you provide us for continued learning and growth. The  IB training session I attended last month in Denver was among the best workshops I have participated in.  Our smart, prepared and vibrant instructor,  Heather Michael, taught this informative and dynamic course on how better to connect CAS, Extended Essays and the Theory of Knowledge course. Along with Keisha Legagneur and Kelly Brown, I hope to be able to employ some of the tactics I learned while participating in the workshop, "Roadmap for improving student performance in TOK, CAS and EE" which FCEF so generously funded.

You and the FCEF support us in so many ways! Your organization has funded yet another exciting Professional Development opportunity for us. Thanks to the FCEF, this weekend I will be participating in the Google Summit in Falls Church and am eager to learn how to better use Google in my classroom. Although it is hard to choose from the many exciting workshops being offered, I am especially interested in the sessions, "Take a Field Trip Around the World with Google Cultural Institute" and also "Using Google Classroom and Videonot App to Explore Curriculum."

Again, thank you for all you do for our schools, especially for encouraging teachers to keep learning. By funding excellent professional development opportunities, we challenge ourselves to stay current and improve how and what we teach!

With gratitude,
Suzanne "Señora" Planas"
