Advanced Training Grants
For the past eight years, FCEF Advanced Training Grants have provided professional development and conference attendance for teachers/staff in the following areas: IB, MYP, PYP, Special Populations, and Technical Integration. In 2023-24, we distributed more than $54,000 to grant applicants across the district.
"Advanced Training Grants allow our staff to explore new ways of thinking and new approaches to learning. These innovative, creative professional development opportunities ignite a spark in our teachers, which they bring back and share with the FCCPS community," says Julie Macrina, FCCPS Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
For example, FCEF helped send 12 math teachers to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) conference in Washington, D.C., in the fall of 2023. "It's really fun to see the teachers trying new things that they learned in their classrooms with students and sharing that learning with their colleagues," says Jen Fessenden, Pk-12 Mathematics Coordinator.
